Coffee
I read a headline today that was all good news! 'Coffee brims with health benefits, researchers say'. Finally. I've known this for years and I am glad to see that medical science has come around.
Coffee
- lowers rates of colon and rectal and liver cancer
- lowers blood sugar and increases resting metabolism rate, helps prevent diabeter
- helps protect men from Parkinson's
- has antioxidants that may reduce inflammation and protect blood vessel walls
- reduces risk of premature death, especiallly in women
- contains small amounts of soluble dietary fiber, the kind that dissolves in water and helps prevent colestrol from being abosrbed by the intestines
- tastes good
So where would you find the world's finest coffee?
Kenya? Hawaii? Jamaica?
All good answers, but the world's best coffee is from Panama.
And we include visits to coffee fincas (plantations) on our Panama Culinary Adventures. This fine coffee comes from the highlands area of Panama, around Boquete, Volcan, Guadalupe. This area has a fabulous climate and very rich soil. They like to call this territory 'the bread basket of Panama' due to so many crops and the long growing season.
