The accommodations at Victoria House are varied and one of them is bound to suit your needs. The resort offers accommodations ranging in size and style from charming Palapa roof casitas, colonial style Plantation rooms and suites to three individual beachfront villas. At the heart of the resort is a fabulous swimming pool set among tall swaying palm trees overlooking the white sand beaches and Caribbean.

 

 

Fantasea Dive Shop at Victoria House offers a variety of different of activities to meet guests' needs…. fishing, diving, snorkeling, birding, cave tubing… you'll enjoy discussing your wishes with Javier Williams, the Activities Director. Javier will help to plan and coordinate your itinerary, keeping in mind the importance of relaxing in a Mayan hammock strung between a two swaying palms. Be as laid back, as you desire or as adventurous as you dare!

 

The AccommodationsVictoria House Casita

 

With only forty-two accommodations, Victoria House is small and exclusive and has retained the casual ambiance and outstanding staff that make it a true Belizean experience.  All of the Casitas, Plantation Rooms and Suites and private Villas are located in lush tropical gardens with tall swaying palm trees and sweeping views of the reef and white sand beach. 

 

Some accommodations such as the Beachfront Villas and Rainforest Suite are just steps from the azure Caribbean, while the Plantation Rooms and Casitas are set slightly further back from the beach but still offer beach views.
 

Casitas

 

Greet a stunning sunrise from the private verandah of a charming thatch-roofed casita.  Each one is decorated with locally handcrafted mahogany beds draped in custom mosquito netting allowing you to enjoy the cool evening breezes, for those that prefer air-conditioning each Casita is centrally cooled.  There are seven Casitas facing the Caribbean and are separated by only a white sand beach and a wide expanse of verdant lawn and bougainvillea. The Casitas are furnished with a queen bed.

 

Plantation Rooms

 

Eight Plantation Rooms are located in two unique buildings facing the beach surrounded by tropical bougainvillea and hibiscus filled gardens and tall swaying palms.  Each room features a private entrance and verandah with Victoria House Plantation Roomlovely views of the gardens, pool and beach.  All rooms have plantation style interiors with either a queen or king size bed draped in custom-made linen canopies.  Another six Plantation rooms are available in the villas and main hotel.  All Plantation Rooms are fully air-conditioned.

 

Rainforest Suite

Rainforest Suite, AKA The Honeymoon Suite, is an individual Casita set approximately fifty feet from the waters edge.  The suite features a wrap around verandah fully furnished with chaise lounge and sofas.  The Mahogany French doors across the entire front of the suite open the bedroom to the beach.  The private Casita boasts an oversized bedroom with a magnificent four-poster bamboo bed facing the beach providing all the views of the Caribbean you could wish for.  Local art wall frescos of whimsical flora and fauna evoke a feeling of being in the rainforest.

 

Plantation Suites

 

Both Plantation Suites, 12 and 16, are located on the second level of the main building and offer a bright and spacious parlor with separate king size bedrooms; the custom made Mahogany beds with luxurious down pillows and tropical weight duvets are draped in our signature mosquito canopies.  Each suite has central air conditioning and is accessed by a wrap around verandah that is shared by three Staterooms; from Plantation suite 16 there is a garden view and from suite 12 there is a pool and beach view.   Top

The Restaurant

 

Dining at Victoria House can be as romantic or as casual as you desire.  There are three different options for you to choose from depending on the time of day and ambience you want.  Whatever your choice you are bound to be well looked after and enjoy the cuisine of fresh local ingredients and seafood.

 

Restaurant Palmilla overlooks the pool and the beautiful Caribbean; it is fully air-conditioned for those rare occasions when the weather does not cooperate! Casual for breakfast and lunch yet candle lit in the evenings, Palmilla offers a full a la carte menu created by Chef Jose Luis Ortega.

 

The Poolside patio is perfect for al fresco dining, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner the patio is located just outside the restaurant.  Offering the same magnificent views as Palmilla makes it a favorite for lunch.

 

Admiral Nelsons Beach Bar is a lovely Belizean style Palapa thatch roof bar and casual dining verandah. Only a few feet from the waters edge and pier it is the prime spot to watch divers and fishermen return with their catch of the day and their tall tales of the one that got away.

Watersports

 

Following are a variety of trips offered through the Fantasea Dive Shop.  Don’t hesitate to ask if an excursion you wish to do is not listed below.  There are several sites to snorkel and skin-dive; Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Mexico Rocks and Coral Garden are all within a short boat ride from Victoria House.  Equipment can be rented from the Fantasea Dive Shop located on the pier.  Trips run every day at 9:00am or 2:00pm and last around 2 ½ hours.

 

Two Stop Snorkel- Snorkel at Hol Chan Marine reserve in a beautiful channel filled with a variety of fish and coral. The second stop is Shark Ray alley where you swim with nurse sharks and stingrays.

Cost- $40.00 plus $10.00 Hol Chan Park Fee/pp

 

Mexico Rocks- Snorkel at the northern part of Ambergris Caye. You will see brain coral, a variety of fish and possibly a squid or octopus.

Cost- $47.00 /pp

 

Half day Charter- Up to four people in a private boat for snorkeling.

Cost-$226.00 per boat

 

Full day Charter - Up to four people in a private boat for snorkeling at any location, head to Caye Caulker for lunch and some afternoon snorkeling to follow. (Lunch is not included)

Cost- $325.00 per boat

May be subject to $10.per person park fee (dependant upon snorkel location)

 

2 stop sail to Caye Caulker- Catamaran sailing trip to snorkel Hol Chan marine reserve and Shark Ray Alley.  You will visit Caye Caulker for lunch (not included) and then sail back to San Pedro in the afternoon.  Soft drinks and rum punch included.  Minimum of 4 people. This is a full day trip.

Cost- $83.00 /pp plus $10.00 park fee/pp plus Lunch

 

Bacalar Chico- This Mayan National park and Marine Reserve is a snorkeler’s paradise. An abundance of marine life will be seen on the tours three snorkeling stops. This is combined with visiting the ancient dug out canal dated over 1500 years old.  Lunch is provided on Rocky Point, a spectacular area where the Barrier Reef meets Ambergris Caye.  The trip leaves San Pedro at 9:00 am and returns at 4:30pm.    Top

Diving the Barrier Reef        Scuba Belize packages - 6 or 8 days

Ambergris Caye is located West of the second largest Barrier reef in the world and boasts a variety of dive sites within a 20 minute boat ride.  The atolls also offer an amazing full day of diving.  The Fantasea Dive Shop offers Refresher courses, Open Water Referral courses, Advanced Diver Certification and Discover Scuba Resort courses, as well as equipment rentals.

 

Local Diving- These dives depart at 9.00am every day for the two tank dive and 2:00pm for the one tank dive. Dive BelizeThe boat ride is between 5 to 20 minutes from the dive shop to the dive site. Equipment is NOT included and proof of certification is required.

Offshore Dive Trips- These trips depart at 5.30am and return to San Pedro at approximately 4.30/5:00pm. Included are three one tank dives, lunch and refreshments, equipment is NOT included and proof of certification is required.

Mainland and Water Tours   Jungle & Reef - The Surf & Turf tour 

 

Lamanai- The ruins of Lamanai are located on the banks of the 30-mile long New River Lagoon in North Central Belize.  The Lamanai Archaeological Reserve also contains a museum, the remnants of two 16th century Spanish Churches and a colonial sugar mill that was established in 1860.  Set in a tropical forest and providing a unique experience in the culture of the Maya and the biological diversity of a tropical rainforest.  This trip leaves at 7:00am and returns around 5:00pm if you travel by boat and 2:30pm if traveling by air.
Cost by Boat- $149.00 /pp, plus $5 park fee pp

 

Spotlight Nature Safari - After dinner, climb aboard one of the comfortable custom built river safari boats and head out into the night. This exciting adventure gives you the opportunity to encounter anything from the Morelet’s crocodile to the elusive and endangered jaguar. All this plus close up views of some of Belize’s fascinating river birds as they roost on the water’s edge make this a not-to-miss adventure!
Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours
Minimum Participants: 4

 

Night Walks - Experience the jungle under the evening stars or by the light of the moon. Listen as the owls and bats come out to hunt and gather, and the troupes of Howler monkeys speak to each other across the canopy. Sounds come from everywhere as many species such as frogs and tarantulas, other mammals and species of birds thrive in the late hour of the evening.  You will meet your guide in the dining area around 8:00pm to depart.  We recommend you wear long pants, and bring a small flashlight.

Altun Ha- Named for the incredibly engineered “rock stone ponds” which gave the area life in the ancient times, Altun Ha is the site of the discovery of the largest solid jade head carving in the Maya World.  The trip consists of a boat ride up the Northern River to Bomba Village.  Transportation is provided to the site for a tour and then to the Maruba Jungle Lodge for lunch (not included in the trip) and the afternoon.  Treatments can be arranged at Maruba’s spa or you can relax by the pool and mineral baths.  This trip leaves at 8:45am and returns at 5:00pm.
Cost- $83.00 plus $5.00 park fee/pp

 

Manatee Watching- This tour begins with a boat ride to view the manatees near St Georges Caye.  From there the boat heads off to Goff's Caye, a tiny white sand island located right by the Barrier Reef, for a BBQ lunch and snorkeling right off the beach.  Two additional snorkeling stops will follow and a stop by Caye Caulker on your way back to San Pedro. This trip leaves at 8:45 am and returns around 4:30pm.
Cost- $105.00 /pp plus $15.00 park fee/pp.

 

Cave Tubing / Belize Zoo - This adventure begins with a trip over to Belize city either by boat or air, from there you are picked up and driven down the Western Highway to the cave system.  Once on site there is a hike to the cave tubing Belizecaves where the tubing begins.  The cave tubing lasts about 2 ½ hours.  Following this you will have lunch (provided and included) and then head off to the Belize Zoo for the afternoon.  This is a full day trip leaving the island around 7:00am and returning around 5:00pm.
Cost- by boat: $165.00 /pp plus $5.00 park fee
Cave tubing by air: $190.00 /pp plus $5.00 park fee

 

Cave Tubing / Jungle Canopy Zip Line - Take place at Jaguar Paw Resort.  The resort is located less than 50 minutes drive south of Belmopan.  Guests are picked up by boat; the boat ride is about 45 minutes to an hour. 
On arrival guests hike for 10 minutes to get to where the zip line will take place. The zip line adventure consists of 8 zip line platforms each strategically located within the rainforest canopy.  The platforms are as high as 85ft into the canopy and as far apart as 250ft!
After lunch, guests get ready for the cave tubing. The guides equip the guests with the tube and the headlights. The hiking takes about 30 minutes to get to the caves itself. The river is like a lazy river, all guests do is lay on the tube and the river takes you to a great experience inside the caves. Guests get to see the crystalline stalactites and it is a fascinating experience to be inside the caves when it is raining. The cave tubing takes about 2 hours to 2 hours and a half.    Top

Fishing

 

The guides used at Victoria House have lived their lives on the island and are very knowledgeable about their surroundings and the fishing.  Price includes the guide, equipment (for the Flats a fly rod or for the Reef a spinning rod), gas, tackle, cooler with ice sodas and water.  Box lunches are available upon request from the dining room for full day fishing trips.

Times – ½ Day (morning) 8:00am to 11:30/12:00 noon

½ Day (afternoon) 1:30pm to 5:00 pm

Full day is 8:00am to 2:30/3:00pm

 

Flats fishing- When fishing the flats you will be in a small narrow boat called a Lanchon. The length of boats used on the flats runs from 20 to about 24 feet, and about 5 to 6 feet across. You fish off a platform on the bow of the boat for the best visibility.  The bonefish flats are about 25-40 minutes on the leeward side of the island.

Cost- 1/2-day $226.00 per boat (1 to 2 people) Full day-$325.00 per boat (1 to 2 people)

 

Reef Fishing- At the reef we bottom fish with live sardines for snapper’s horse eye jacks, mackerel, barracuda, and groupers.  After your trip you can bring your fresh caught fish to the dining room and have it prepared for lunch or dinner (fish prep is an additional dining room charge).

Cost- 1/2 day $226.00 per boat (1 to 4 people) Full day- $325.00 per boat (1 to 4 people)

 

Deep Sea Fishing- The boats used for this trip are 32-36 foot boats and are equipped with a cabin, bathroom, and a fighting chair.  You will fish for Wahoo, Blue Marlin, Sailfish or maybe a King Fish.  These boats allow for up to 5 lines out at the same time, and who knows you may have a bite on every line.

Cost- 1/2 day $495.00 per boat (1 to 4 people)

Full day $715.00 per boat (1 to 4 people)

 

Fish/bbq/Snorkel or fish/bbq/fish- The trip begins at 8:30am. At the reef we bottom fish with live sardines for snapper’s, horse eye jacks, mackerel, barracuda, and groupers. After you catch enough you head up north to a beach bar. The guide will BBQ the fish for you and also make some great ceviche to go with the beers. After lunch you head out to the reef again to either fish some more or snorkel.

Other Fun ActivitiesKingfisher Belize

 

Birding- A variety of birds may be observed in the immediate vicinity of Victoria House Resort, but a forty minute boat ride to the leeward side of Ambergris Caye will introduce you to the many birds indigenous to the area.  After the birding you may choose to stop off for a refreshing snorkel.  This trip is a half-day leaving between 8:00 and returning at 11:30.

Cost- $61.00 /pp (min of 4 people) or private charter $215.00

 

Sunset Sails - See the sunset from the Caribbean Sea on your own private boat.  Sunset sails can be set up any evening for a romantic end to the perfect sunny day.  The boat will pick you up at the Victoria House pier at 5:30 and return from the sail around 7:30.  Champagne on board can be arranged!

Swedish Massage- The full body Swedish massage helps balance your sense of well-being by relaxing the body, easing sore muscles and relieving the mind. The massage pressure is adjusted to your need and comfort. Couples massages are also available and can be done on the lawn, in your room, on the beach… it’s all up to you.
