HIGHLIGHTS
During Holy Week, Antigua, Guatemala hosts the most beautiful religious celebration in the Americas, when huge processions wind their way through the town’s streets. Actually, the celebration begins on Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, and reaches its climax on Good Friday, when Antigua streets are thronged with processions and reverent spectators. The processions consist of big floats, or 'andas', bearing statues of Christ with a cross, that are carried by hundreds of purple-robed men. A float with the Virgin Mary follows by women dressed in black clothing.

Semana Santa in Guatemala - Full Itinerary
Friday March 26 - Arrive Guatemala
You will be met and transfered to your Guatemala City hotel.
Saturday March 27- Lake Atitlan
Today you transfer to Lake Atitlan with its three volcanoes known as the most beautiful lake in the world.
Sunday March 28 Chichicastenango Market
Your guide will take you for shopping in the famous Chichicastenango market. You will also have an opportunity to see Maya rituals being performed in the Catholic Church. Transfer back to Lake Atitlan. (B)
Monday March 29- San Juan & Santiago – Maximon
This morning you will take a scenic boat ride across Lake 
Atitlan to the village of San Juan La Laguna where you will visit the women’s textile cooperative to see hand weaving and natural dye process. You'll also visit the studios / homes of the celebrated naïf painters. From here you will continue to the village of Santiago for lunch in a local hotel and tour the village visiting the Maya God Maximon and learn about the textiles, spiritualism and beliefs of the T’zutujil Maya. You should also see Maximon being processed through the streets of Santiago in an Easter procession that typifies the interesting mix of Maya and Catholic faiths. Return to your hotel via Sta. Catarina Village. (B,L)
Tuesday March 30- Solola Market & free afternoon
You will be picked up from your hotel by your driver & guide and transfer to the traditional town of Solola. This town is bursting with life and local Maya people from all around the area flock to the market to buy and sell their wares for the week ahead. Afterwards, you will be transferred back to your hotel. Free afternoon. (B)
Wednesday March 31- Azotea Coffee Farm & museums, Antigua
You will be transferred to Antigua. En route, you will visit Azotea Coffee Farm & a traditional music and clothes museum. The rest of the afternoon free. (B,L)
Thursday - Saturday – April 1-3, Antigua
From Easter Wednesday through to Easter Sunday you will stay in Antigua to enjoy the amazing processions and decorative carpets that adorn the streets of this beautiful colonial capital. There is really nothing quite like Antigua at Easter and everyone should visit at least once! (B)
Easter Sunday April 4 - Transfer Out
This morning our driver will transfer you to the airport (approx 1 hour) in plenty of time to catch your flight. (B)
